We keep our BASS creel (catch) in a cooler and use aerators to keep them alive.  Then at the end of the day, we can count how many we caught, take pictures, and most important of all, let the fish go, alive and safe, so they can GROW BIGGER, REPRODUCE and best of all we can CATCH THEM AGAIN!

How To Select the Right Fishing Reel For You!
Bait-casting Reels are harder to learn. The spools are aligned in the direction of the rod, so the line comes out smooth and quickly and will tangle into a "bird's nest" of tangled line until you learn how to control it with your thumb!
Bait-castings reels tend to cost more than an average reel. They have high quality bearings and features like magnetic drag and a spooling guide that insures your line is evenly wound on the spool.
Bait-casting reels are designed for the seriously avid fishing fan. They come in a variety of styles, but all of the line spools are aligned the same way. This is a Flueguer.  Notice the metal line guide.
Open-bail Reels aka Spinning reels are the most common and verstile. They are aligned parallel to the rod. These types of reels can handle all types of line sizes.  Often the handles are reverseable giving you the choice of control with either hand.
The spool of open bail is so large that the line forms large loops as it comes off the spool. When the bail is open, you must hold the line with your thumb prior to casting. That is where the diffculty using these kinds of reels comes from.
Some open-bail reels have a trigger so you don't have to hold onto the line, but it also takes time to get used to. With the right rod, you can cast a long way with these reels. But these reels too are subject to line tangles for various reasons.
Recent improvements in this style has produced some moderately expensive versions that have the smoothness of the bait-cast models and the casting abilities of the open-bail. We don't want to fight with our equipment - we want to have fun and fight with the fish!
Push-buttons typically don't hold line as thick as the other reel types and usually come pre-spooled. If you put a line that's too heavy on the reel, you'll have problems with it, because the drawback of these reels is that sometimes the line gets snagged inside the spool and the heavier line increases that risk.
Push-button Reels are by far the easiest to use and the easiest to learn to use.  While we have all of the these reel types, the push button is our favorite by far. If you've never fished before or you're having trouble with the other types of reels, this is definitely the fishing reel for you!

Fishin' Pretty
In many of the places I've gone fishing, as I meet other people fishing, I've noticed that a lot of people don't really know what they're doing. Fishing is more than throwing a line in the water, and good equipment doesn't make you a good fisherman. Are you one of those who doesn't know what you're doing? Can you say what makes YOU a good fisherman?
